December: Wrapping Up 2024 – Casework Highlights and Insights

As we turn our focus to the new year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the work my team and I have done since I became your MP in July. Representing Newbury in Parliament is an honour, and some of the most meaningful work happens through the casework I do on your behalf.

Over the past six months, we’ve opened 2,106 cases and responded to 4,144 casework emails. December alone brought in 145 new cases, with a focus on health services and pensions, particularly in light of the WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) campaign. Hearing from women who feel let down by the system has reinforced my commitment to pushing for justice and ensuring their voices are heard in Westminster.

Casework offers a unique insight into the challenges our community faces. This year, we’ve supported residents with issues ranging from benefits and housing to energy bills, flooding, visas, assisted dying, and farming. Each email and call reminds me why I’m here—to fight for solutions that make a difference in your everyday lives.

Thank you for trusting me with your concerns and for working with me to address the issues that matter to you. I’ll continue to stand up for Newbury in Parliament and work hard to deliver the support and change our community needs in the year ahead.
