About Lee

Lee Dillon was elected as the MP for Newbury in July 2024, following a long-standing commitment to serving his community. A lifelong resident of Thatcham, where his family runs a local pub, Lee went to school in both Thatcham and Newbury. His deep roots in the area fuel his passion for making a positive impact locally.

Lee began his political journey in 2007, when he was first elected to the local council. Over the years, he has taken on multiple leadership roles, culminating in becoming Council Leader in May 2023, after the Liberal Democrats took control. His work has always focused on improving local services, infrastructure, and opportunities for the people he represents.

Inspired by the late Liberal Democrat MP for Newbury, David Rendel, Lee brings a similar drive and dedication to his role. Prior to becoming an MP, he worked for a not-for-profit housing association, where he helped provide homes to those in need. His priorities as MP include addressing the cost-of-living crisis, supporting families, and ensuring fair access to services. Lee has been a vocal advocate for free school meal support during holidays and fought to save the local ReadiBus service from Conservative cuts.

Outside of politics, Lee is a passionate sports fan. He regularly takes his young children to watch Reading Football Club and counts watching his hometown team, Thatcham Town, win at Wembley in the 2018 FA Vase Final as one of his favourite sporting moments.
